The ship to yourselves, with your own captain and costumed crew. No other passengers and no fixed script, so the day is pitched at whatever the group is there for. Most groups take two hours, which is long enough for a lap of the canals with time to sit down and eat.

$34 per person per hour, with a minimum of 20 guests, so from $680 an hour. Capped at $1,020 an hour, which means a full boat of 50 never costs more than 30 would. Off-peak there is a fixed $680 for the whole boat for 45 minutes, midweek outside school holidays. Every hire is quoted individually, so treat these as a guide.

The deluxe pontoon for your own group, on the sheltered water of the estuary and canals. Smaller and quieter than the pirate ship, with cushioned seating under cover and a toilet aboard.

$550 an hour for the whole boat, so a four hour charter is $2,200. Every hire is quoted individually, so treat this as a guide.

How do I book a private charter?

Send the operator an enquiry with your date, your group size and roughly how long you want. Nothing books instantly, because each charter is quoted for the group it is carrying.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes, on both boats. On the pirate ship it comes aboard at the start of the hire and goes with you at the end, and there is no bar or liquor licence aboard. Limits on alcohol differ between the boats and by time of day, so check when you enquire.

How big can the group be?

Up to 50 on the pirate ship, though around 40 is more comfortable if you are serving food. Up to 19 on the White Pearl.
